Q: iMac 27" El Capitan & Canon MP830 install

Computer: iMac 27"

OS: El Capitan

Printer: Canon MP830

Problem: When trying to install the printer via USB cable, the computer detects it but the printer software does not install automatically. When browsing for the printer software it is not listed. Navigating to Canon's Support page lists the printer, but no software is under the El Capitan selection.

Questions: Can the printer be installed or is it not compatible?
