Nov 16, 2015 1:12 AM in response to RANJITABRAHAMby Leopardus,The only option left open to you is to buy Server 5 with the Apple ID of the organisation. Software and hardware should always be bought by the organisation and never be personalised to an individual's Apple ID. Server 5 has taken the route of a generic Application, meaning thereby that it will not be OS version dependent like it's recent predecessors.

Nov 16, 2015 1:16 AM in response to RANJITABRAHAMby RANJITABRAHAM,We are more than willing to buy the new application, but the problem is caniinstall the software without formatting the server? I have tried uninstalling the software and going to the app store and still it only gives an option to restore the old purchase and not to buy fresh again. Althoughihave the serverbackup, iknow ifido a restore after the new purchase, iwould end up whereistarted with the old server app still running.

Nov 16, 2015 1:30 AM in response to RANJITABRAHAMby Leopardus,Dont do it on a live system, and not when the system is in use i.e. do the update over a period when the live system is not required.
When you buy Server 5, make at least two independent backups of the old system beforehand. Make sure that you know how to restore or roll back to your previous system. Export the users and Groups. Then stop the services, but not the DNS and the Open Directory Services.
Thereafter, move the icon of the old server to the trash. Empty the trash. Log into the Apple Store with the organisation's ID, which should also be connected to an Admin Account on the Mac. Make the purchase and follow the onscreen instructions. It will take a while sorting some things out.
If you have problems, you can import the users and groups again and/or you have backups to which you can roll back the system.

You don't have to use another Mac. Simply have the machine running off one more Backup copy. You can then use the previous 'live' HD. If the upgrade fails, you can just restore from the Backup.
If you don't have the Diradmin password you might have to reset it.
