My MacBook Air doesn't have iMovie?

Hi

I have been wanting to use iMovie for a long time but it isn't installed on my Mac. Garage Band and the other apps are fine though. Any help?

Thx

Ps:The Mac was originally my brother's, and he did a factory reset.

It was presumably bought by your brother under his Apple ID or when he registered the computer new. It will not be available free under your Apple ID unless you have bought it separately or bought another new Mac since about 2011. In other words it is licensed to a particular Apple ID and not a particular computer.

Correct. My understanding is that you would need to set up a second account on your mac under his ID. I am not familiar with this aspect but I think this could cause problems for you later since your can only be logged in on one account at a a time and under each account, I think you would only have access to apps and data available under that account. Some more info is at: http://osxdaily.com/2014/11/08/change-apple-id-mac-os-x/

Someone else more knowledgable might like to chime in...

Clarification: Since all apps are installed at system rather than user level you should see a copy iMovie installed under your brother's account. I'm not sure whether or not it would launch when logged in as yourself rather than as your brother. As a separate user you should have you own license.
