It depends largely on the capabilities of the stereo. Since there is more than one option for the stereo in a Tahoe, I don't know which one you have. If your DVD player only has a USB input, then as far as I know you cannot view videos from the iPad to the DVD screen, because the USB port usually requires either a mass storage or a media transfer device, and the iPad does not connect as either one. All you can do is try.
However, if your DVD player has an A/V input, you can use adapters, beginning with the Apple Digital AV adapter (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD098AM/A/apple-digital-av-adapter), and then using an HDMI-to-A/V adapter. I use a similar setup that goes from the micro-HDMI port on my Lenovo tablet, then through the HDMI-to-A/V adapter, to view videos on the Pioneer stereo in my truck. I have not yet tried connecting my iPad since I don't have the Digital AV adapter, but I do have an iPad mount in the truck so I can use the iPad as a GPS. So I can just put the iPad in the mount and watch videos that way.
I also have a 64GB USB flash drive with a number of videos on it that I can connect to the stereo directly. So you may be able to transfer the videos from your iPad to a flash drive and view them that way, but it depends on whether the player is compatible with video files on a USB device in the first place.
The answer to any of these questions should be found in the user's guide for the stereo, although it may not be easy to find. It may be a separate manual from the vehicle manual, and you may be able to get a more detailed manual from the stereo manufacturer's website.
