can i use automator to build a simple application that accept input from the user and use that input in a URL to open a webpage.
Can you give us a bit more specific example of what you are trying to do? Perhaps a sample url?
for example i would like to do a google search
1. get input from user
input = apple
2. open the browser with the following URL
Here are the two Automator actions necessary to open a new Safari window or tab (depending on Preference setting) with the results of a Google search based on user input search term(s). One does not need to quote multiple words in the user input. Click the following image to enlarge. Choose and save the Automator workflow as an Application. Tested on El Capitan 10.11.1.
