I have an iMac Mid 2011. It has OS X Yosemite , version 10.10.5. The processor has 25 GHz and Intel Core i5, Memory 4 GB. For some reason, I am unable to update to El Capitan. The computer does nothing when I try to update. Any suggestions?😕

Do you mean it downloads, but the installation does not occur or it won't download from App Store? If later, then OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 Update

Check in your Applications Folder or LaunchPad for the OS X El Capitan Installer.
El Capitan is not an update, it is an upgrade. You download it from the "Featured" section of the App Store app, not the "Updates" section.
