My music sometimes plays for a few seconds and and then skips to the next song. Is anyone else having that issue?

I Have the latest IOS and now sometimes in my Apple Music, songs i have physically in my iPhone 6 skip to the next song after only playing them for maybe 20-30 seconds. Also when listening to Apple's online music it will stop or stutter like the connection is bad, but it isn't.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.1

It definitely sounds like your connection and I can explain why:

The playing a couple of seconds before skipping is commonplace when:

  1. The music isn't set to 'Available Offline' and there's little to no internet connection
  2. Your Apple Music subscription is no longer valid

If when listening to the music you experience stoppage or stuttering, this would definitely suggest a bad connection.

Now although you believe your connection is good and I'm sure it is, the strength of the signal can vary. Try using Apple Music whilst connected to your Wi-Fi and in the same room as the router, I'm sure you will see fantastic results.

I, personally, have the same trouble as you and it's because there are many walls between my room and the router which reduce the signal strength.

The overall solutions would be: get a Wi-Fi repeater in your room to increase signal strength or set all your music to 'Available Offline' and sit near to your router while it downloads all the songs and then you should have no issues.

Hope this helps!

Everything that was in my 'old' iTunes library has been added to iCloud Music Library. Tracks that I add from Music.app etc also reside in this same library.

Having had a number (a ridiculous amount) of mismatch issues, I recently cleared down the whole library, re-added my locally stored tracks and then re-enabled iCloud Music Library .... still the same issues with mismatching skipping etc.

While this is a work-around which 'might' work, it's not practical. The issue doesn't affect all tracks, so I would need to constantly monitor my iPhone for tracks skipping, make a note of them and then manually look them up on my device(s) and set them to 'available online'. This also eats in to my local device storage - which kind of defeats the point of iCloud Music Library.

Again, while it's a work-around to get those tracks which skip to play, it doesn't address the root cause which is an issue with uploads from iTunes libraries to iCloud Music Library.
