Q: iTunes will not sync or backup my iPad

Every time I try to run an new backup of my iPad running iOS 9.1, the iTunes application [12.3.1.23] running in El Capitan gives the message that the iPad disconnected and therefore the sync or backup failed. I've tried this with extensions off...no luck.

I tried it in SAFEBOOT MODE, again NO LUCK.

The sync/backup process goes all the way to step 6 and the iPad "disconnects" just at the point when the backupdata is to be saved.

In the Library, Application Support, Backup, a numerically titled folder is created but no data is saved in the folder. It is at the point that the "iPad disconnects from iTunes".

What gives?  What did Apple do to BREAK THIS BACKUP/SYNC FUNCTION???

My iPad functions perfectly with the Photos application and so, I believe the error is caused by a bug in the latest version of iTunes.

I need help getting a viable Sync/Backup.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), null

    Hello BinsuJiro,

It sounds like there's an issue backing up your iPad with iTunes with your MacBook Pro. Try taking a look at the article linked below and running through the troubleshooting tips that it provides.

    Ciao.

Thanks for the link, but clearly there is more going on here.

You may have 11,280 points and be a community specialist, but I have been using Macs intensely since the early '90's, and am a network admin.

Clearly there is a problem with the latest implementation of iTunes. The suggestions didn't work, nor are they sufficient to solve the problem, and since it goes beyond simple backup problems and the issue does not allow a sync of iOS devices, perhaps Apple should be spending some time fixing what they just broke.

It would be nice to have a real answer to my question. Like: Apple BROKE the Backup and Sync process in the new iOS and the new iTunes. It will release an updated version of both in X days.

I had the same problem with my old ACER computer running XP and it said that I needed to update iTunes but it said it was the latest edition, tried further attempts to fix the issue without resolving it and the next day when I started up my computer I gat a black screen,,so now I don't have a laptop to alter my photos as it seems I can't delete any photos without iTunes as they where put on my ipad2 with it,this problem accured because of an update to my ipad2 in mixing up my photos.

    Thanks for the comment.

Greek.CV12's message should reenforce the need for Apple to fix what they broke in the latest release of iOS 9.1 and iTunes or what in the El Capitan release that prevents proper syncing and backup of iOS devices.

Someone at Apple screwed up. It is time to fix the mistake.
