Q: RAM Upgrade

I have the MacBook Pro 13" mid 2012. Why can't I upgrade more then 8GB of RAM? The Crucial 16GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL11 SO-DIMM Laptop Kit (Two 8GB Apple Memory Modules) have the same specifications as Crucial 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL11 SO-DIMM Laptop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Apple Memory Modules) just more 1GB chips on the cards.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 13" mid 2012

Because Apple says so.

I think I'm going to try it anyways because so many companies make it I don't see why it won't work.

They say so because at that time 8GB RAM memory was not available. 16GB will work. Search this forum for other posts regarding using 16GB RAM
