i have several iOS devices. Suddenly one of these will not accept my Apple ID password. It has given me an authentication code to enter on another device. Where do I enter it?

If your trying to set up Device A, then Device A will provide a spot to enter the Authentication Code. The authentication code will be sent to a different device that is already know and authenticated. You read the code on that second device and enter it in the spot provided on Device A.

I'm having this same problem authorizing iTunes on an older Mac. it give me the authorization code on my phone, but iTunes never provides a place to enter it.
same problem applies with Messages. No where to enter the code.
Not to mention signing in on here i have to enter the code.
Is there somewhere to turn off this pain in the *** or set it to something less intrusive?
thanks
Is your software up to date, iOS 9.3.2? Older software might not support 2-factor authentication.
You can disable 2-factor authentication when you manage your Apple ID, see Managing your Apple ID - Official Apple Support.
Yes, my phone is 9.3.2, but I am actually referring to messages on the computer at home (Mac BookPro).
I should note that when I log into this forum at work I (MacPro) have to enter in the authentication code too. but stupidly it the code is given to me on the MacPro... what's the point?
