can i use memory for imac 27 inch mid 2011 for imac 2008
I have extra memory from updating my 2011 27inch imac.
Can I try using the old 2GB cards in my older 2008 20inch imac?
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

No, they are totally different RAM. If you want to upgrade the RAM in your 2008, please use either Crucial or OWC (www.macsales.com), iMacs are sensitive to RAM and need high quality products. Both vendors are trusted and sell high quality RAM at fair prices.
Thanks!
I was tempted to try it and was hoping to reuse what I already have.
My imac 20” 2008 at home is slow and I need some speed. Do you think it will make a difference to add memory? Maybe 16 GB.
The max RAM a 2008 machine will accommodate is 6GB of RAM. Depending on the version of OS X installed yes it would likely help the performance a somewhat.
Thanks again!
I will update the memory. 6 GB.
I have the 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
iMac (20-inch, Early 2008) - with 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Hope this will make a difference.
