Nov 17, 2015 3:47 PM in response to ACinJCby Russ H,You could follow these steps.
Or you could download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager for a one-click solution.
Preferences may not be the problem. Do you have big (>4K) still images in your sequence? And are all (if any) stills RGB?

Nov 17, 2015 3:59 PM in response to Russ Hby ACinJC,Thanks for the response, Russ. The link "these steps" didn't work for me but I'll check out the Digital Rebellion thing.
I think the problem may NOT have been the need to trash preferences. Even though the clip I was editing (.mov, under 2 minutes) was a QuickTime file, when I opened it and then exported it from Quicktime, I was able to open the new clip in FCP with no problem (except aspect ratio - oy). It may be that the clip I got was edited in Premiere and even though it was saved as .mov, my old version of Final Cut and old OS weren't happy.
Anyhow, thanks!
