Q: contacts gone!

my contacts on my mini mac are gone. they are still on my iPhone. do I have a virus?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

A:

Open "System Preferences"
Open the "iCloud" preference pane
If not already logged in to iCloud, do so with the SAME iCloud account you use on your iPhone
Lastly, make sure that "Contacts" is enabled (selected)

There are no know virus on a Mac.
Do y have iCloud contacts turned on?

my contacts are all there on the cloud. I can't see a way of turning on iCloud in contacts on my mini mac.

I just noticed mini mac is OS X 10-11-1, and iPhone is on 9.0.2, would that be the issue?
contacts are ticked on iCloud on my mini mac. this is all I see when I open iCloud drive on my iPhone....

iCloud drive is for files, not "services" like Contacts, Calendar and some other things.
On the iPhone go to Settings>iCloud. Is Contacts checked?
On the Mini in Contacts>Accounts iCloud us the enabled box checked?
