Q: AppleTV is extremely slow taking days for movie to download while the Internet is showing 22 Mb per second and I can download fine on the iPad

I have an Apple TV third-generation.

I have intermittently have this slow streaming problem for a while but recently it's been consistently horrible. The AppleTV takes forever to download a movie or TV show and play. I've noticed the newer TV shows seem to have less of an download issue. Generally anything that I want to watch takes a long time to download into the AppleTV buffer and play.

The network speed check shows 22 Mb per second consistently or better  for downloads.

The AppleTV has been restarted, reset, network connection on the AppleTV has been forgotten and restored, the AppleTV has been totally restored to factory settings and then reconfigured. The router has been reset and it's firmware updated.

No other computers connected to the Internet either hardware or Wi-Fi have any problems whatsoever. If I download a movie on my iPad I have no issues. Recently I've been doing that and then using airplay to be able to watch it on the Apple TV.

The main issue is that for direct streaming the AppleTV is next to useless recently.

this problem occurs on both of my Apple TVs. The second Apple TV is set up to connect at 5 GHz well the first want to set up to connect 2.4  The second Apple TV is set up to connect at 5 GHz well the first want to set up to connect 2.4 Hz GHz.

Signal strength for both Apple TVs is excellent. Even when I connect the AppleTV directly with the ethernet to the router I still have an issue.

You seem determined to imply it's the Apple TV and nothing to do with your network. I believe your network and/or network connection is almost certainly where your problem is and until you consider it to be the case I don't think you will solve the problem.
