Why the Calendar app doesn't have alarms; why the Clock app doesn't have dates

How does the Apple community set reminders that will give them an audible alarm, reminding them to take an action on a specific date? Do deadlines simply not exist in the Apple community? Is everything done randomly at random times? Does no one in the Apple community ever make a promise do deliver something on a specific date at a specific time, like "I'll call you on 11/30/15 at 9:30 am." If anyone in the Apple community ever does that, then how is it that not since the first Apple iPhone came out in 2007 has anyone in the Apple community thought to make an app for that? An iPhone user still can't, within the Calendar app, after 8 years of iPhones, set a reminder that will sound an alarm at the specified time. The Clock app still, after 8 years of iPhones, doesn't allow iPhone users to set an alarm to go off on a specific date. Why? Why? Why? Am I the only person in the entire Apple community that actually cares to deliver what I promise when I promise to deliver it? How does everyone else with an iPhone do it? Why does Apple not make this simple?

"You are able to set up to 2 alerts ranging from "At time of event" to "1 week before" and several option in between."

Those alarms are not useful - they simply vibrate the phone once and put up a message on the screen. If my phone isn't in my pocket (e.g. it's charging in another room, I'm asleep, etc), I'll miss the appointment.

We need a wake-up style alert option.

As AJ397 mentioned, when you are creating an event you may need to scroll down a bit to see the Alert section. You are able to set up to 2 alerts ranging from "At time of event" to "1 week before" and several option in between.

Alternately you can use the reminders app if it is a task that simply needs to be checked off as complete. I find that calendar is best to block out a specific amount of time such as a doctor appointment or a party that has a specific start and end time. Reminders can have an alert at a time and date or based on your location. Things like Call mom about party plans, pick up dry cleaning, or pay utility bill wouldn't have a block of time set aside but just has a reminder to start the task. With reminders also, you get a pop up at the scheduled time and you can mark it complete or to remind you at a later time. You have options to remind you in 15 minutes, 1 hour, or tomorrow.

Remember that you can also use Siri for a lot of these things. "Remind me on Friday at 1:00 p.m. to call Joe" or "Schedule Doctor Appointment on November 30 at 10:30 a.m."

I'm not sure who "we" is. I know I don't need such a thing. However, there is an extremely full featured alarm/reminder app called Alarmed that might meet your needs. The developer is Yoctoville, as I recall.
