The driver i downloaded was MG2100 series CUPS Printer Driver (OS X 10.7/10.8/10.9/10.10) version 11.7.1.0. I installed it and it works with El Capitan on my MP210 printer.
I just discovered this problem today with my printer and followed the directions here to get mine working.
dBasically, we have to install an older canon driver to get it to work. If you get the "lipo command requires..." error, it will ask you to install Xcode. I was able to download that from the App store and install it. Once I did that, I could delete & re-add my printer under System Preferences no problem.
I installed the CUPS driver from the link in previous post (links forwards you to canon Europe website) and then installed the requested command line developer tool (like ?).
Was indeed able to set up MP210 printer from printer settings!
THANK YOU ladyjaye42 !
