How do I use a newer iPhoto library with iPhoto '09?

Hi everybody!

I have recently downgraded my mac (Yosemite was horrible - lagging like crazy no matter what I did), and I have found that my salvaged iPhoto library won't load on the old Lion-compatible iPhoto '09 that I also recovered.

Is there any way I can 'downgrade' the iPhoto Library? Failing that, can I extract my photos, albums, faces, etc. from the existing one and build a new one with that information?
