Q: is there anyway to transfer data from your old Mac that's from your iphone to your new mac?

Okay so I'm getting a new 13" Macbook Pro next week since the 15" one I am using right now which I have had for 4 years now and it is really slow sometimes now and the microphone doesn't work anymore and I use my earbuds now and the webcam is starting to die out and I end up restarting my Mac sometimes. So I really need a new one. But anyway, I want to make sure my new Mac can transfer everything from my iPhone 6 and from the old Mac to the new Mac just so I don't lose anything I have backed up on my phone such as apps and game progress. Although, I kept getting new iPhones from the 4, 4S, and 5S to the 6 which transferred the app and game data from my old phones to the Mac I have now.

I just wanted to know before my new Mac comes in the mail next week, is there anyway I can transfer app and game progress from the old Mac to the new Mac just so I don't lose anything on my phone?

    Greetings maria196,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your question that you are concerned about App data on your iPhone. Backing up your iPhone to iCloud is a great way to save your App data and it sounds like you have been doing this already. For reference, the following article explains what data gets backed up to iCloud.

You can also transfer purchases to iTunes on your Mac by following the steps the next article.

If you need more assistance, please do not hesitate to reply. Can you explain the situation further if you do need to reply? I am a bit confused by this statement:

I want to make sure my new Mac can transfer everything from my iPhone 6 and from the old Mac to the new Mac just so I don't lose anything I have backed up on my phone such as apps and game progress.

    Have a great day!

    Hi there Joe_7399 c:,

I back up my iPhone 6 to the Macbook Pro I am using now. My new Macbook Pro came today. But yeah I am concerned about my apps and their data, my music, and my messages. What I meant by my statement is that well the Macbook Pro I have now has everything from my past iPhones and current iPhone backed up onto my Macbook Pro. When I transfer everything from my old Macbook Pro to my new one, I want to make sure I can transfer everything without my phone erasing my app data when I am backing up my iPhone 6 on my new Macbook Pro.

I tried looking on YouTube for several ways to transfer data from your iPhone from your old Macbook Pro or PC to your new Macbook Pro without losing data and all the methods seemed a little bit difficult and people had the oldest OS updates and Macs. I just want to find the right method of transferring data from my old Macbook Pro to my new Macbook Pro and if there's a certain drive on my Macbook Pro that I should back it up to. I'm not opening and activating my new Macbook Pro till next week. But I just wanted to know the perfect method of transferring data in advance so I don't mess up when transferring.

    Sorry about the confusion.

    Hi maria196,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Thank you for replying and explaining this situation further; I better understand your situation now. There are a few different ways you could approach getting all of your information migrated from the old Mac to the new one and then being able to sync your iPhone to the new Mac without losing any data.

Because I feel like it would be a better and more complete experience for you, I would suggest contacting Apple Support directly for this situation. Contacting AppleCare will allow us to better explain how you should approach this process and how to ensure that all of your data remains safe.
