Use iMac27 as a target display of MacBook Air

Hi,

I want to use my iMac27 late 2009 as a target display of my MacBook Air mid 2012.

Connected through Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable as advised by Apple (see below table).

Both have Apple wireless keyboards.

MacBook Air, mid 2012 with Thunderbolt port (Yosemite OSX 10.10.5)

iMac27, late 2009 with Mini DisplayPort (Yosemite OSX10.10.3)

iMacs you can use
as a display

Cable
you need

Port you need
on your other Mac

iMac (27-inch Late 2009)

Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort

Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt

Through the Cmd-F2 key on my iMac27 the MacBook should be displayed on the Mac27, but it doesn't......

Are there any Apple keyboard type/version constraints?

Are special keyboard settings needed ?

Keyboard details: one holds 3 batteries and the other 2

Up till now I could not find advise or more detailed description for a solution.

Does anybody have an advise ?

Thanks in advance

iMac, Mac OS X (10.0.x), 27-inch Late 2009

Hi,

I tried all listed from this document.

The one thing I doubt is the line: "Some older Apple keyboards and third-party keyboards might not allow Command-F2 to toggle display modes. If this happens, use the keyboard that came with your iMac to toggle Target Display Mode on and off."

As described I have two Apple wireless keyboards, one holds 3 batteries and the other 2 batteries.

I cannot tell which is the original sold with the iMac27 ?
