Q: Console message

While trying to figure out why my Spotlight Indexing keeps popping up and slowing down my system I looked at Console and saw this:

every 30 seconds I get the following 2 lines:

11/18/15 5:49:12.000 PM kernel[0]: (default pager): [KERNEL]: default_pager_backing_store_monitor - send LO_WAT_ALERT

11/18/15 5:49:12.000 PM kernel[0]: macx_swapoff FAILED - 2

11/18/15 5:49:45.000 PM kernel[0]: (default pager): [KERNEL]: default_pager_backing_store_monitor - send LO_WAT_ALERT

11/18/15 5:49:45.000 PM kernel[0]: macx_swapoff FAILED - 2

Any ideas what that is?

Is that related to the fact that Spotlight wants to index very frequently without having changed anything.

Thanks

quick follow up - I have disabled further Spotlight indexing and the 2 lines are not showing anymore in the messages in Console.

So definitely Spotlight related - so how do I fix it so that Spotlight doesn't keep popping up trying to index. Most of the time I get the spinning wheel with the message "Estimating index time" and then ever now and then it actually re-indexes (but again: not because I install major stuff or anything).

    Thanks

That can be related to excessive memory usage.  See if Activity Monitor memory monitoring shows anything interesting.

well, I have been working all day now having Spotlight Indexing turned off and everything runs very fast. If I look at the memory (8G), don't see anything popping out. It says 2.7GB free, 1.1 GB wired, 3.8GB Active and 452MB Inactive - together: 5.36GB Used - but looking at the individual components: a big chunk is used by my music notation program, then Mail and Safari - the rest is minorly busy.

Just turned Indexing back on and it is calculating how long it will take and don't see a slowdown either.

At some point I thought Time Machine and Indexing together is when things get really slow - but I'm no expert, guessing here.

The above 2 lines have not yet appeared again. Will report back once I see a slowdown again.

    Thanks
