I get no audio when Quick Time plays mp3 files from a certain folder of mp3 files.

I have my mp3 files in folders according to the alphabet. Songs whose titles begin with A are in a folder named A, etc. Quicktime and iTunes will not play mp3 files from the B folder though files from all other folders play as usual. What's the problem?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
