is anyone using the griffin powermate with logic? am thinking of picking one up to use as a jog/shuttle wheel and play button. does it configure easily to do this in logic? does it work well?
apologies if there's already been a thread on this..

I have one in combination with the new Presonus Faderport, and enjoy using both very much. Powermate comes with software that allows it to learn "any" key command for any program, it should work for what you want, AFAIK. You can scroll left, right, click, long-click, push down and scroll left, push down and scroll right. I use it to move left and right in the arrange window, environment and mixer ( whatever screen you have your cursor over will scroll when you move the wheel, pretty sweet). I also have a long click programmed as cut, for slicing audio files. Sometimes it doesn't always cut right on the exact point though, not sure why... Anyway, its pretty good, and I think it will work for what you want.
I use one quite a bit with logic as a forward and rewind control, pressing the button is play/pause and holding the button for .5 seconds is stop.. It could easily be set for any number of other commands.
so, when you configure it, do you just see a whole huge list of logic keycommands inside the powermate control panel thingy? or have they already predefined a bunch of useful stuff for logic?
.. in any case I think I'll pick one up because they're not expensive and I'm sure I'll be able to use it for
something useful. will let you know how it goes, and if I forget to.. ask.
In the Powermate control panel you can assign a particular function, i.e., long-click, to send any key command, such as Command + Y, for snipping audio. I'm not sure if it has built-in command for Logic or not, I've had a couple different version of the Powermate software now, they didn't work quite the same.
