MacPro Mid 2010 Upgrade

Hi Guys,

I have a Mac Pro (Mid 2010) 2x2,4Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024MB, Memory 14GB 1066 DDR3 ECC (2x4GB + 6X1GB).

I´m also using Final Cut Pro 10.2.2, Compressor 4.2.1 and Motion 5.2.2. OS X 10.10.5

Can I increase the performance of this machine by replacing the 6 modules (1GB each) by 6 modules of 4GB for a total of 32GB? Is there a better/powerful Graphics Card?

Thank You,

Mario Brás

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

- Not clear that more memory will help. When yo are using the Mac normally open Activity monitor and go to the memory tab. You want memory pressure in the green.

- Also to the CPU tab and see if CPU is abut 100%.

Frequently video processing is controlled by in controlled by disk access. Y can install a PCle-based blade SSD for bot, apps and scratch. Very fast.

You can get a better graphics card. See:

Yu can use non-Apple flashed card since you have a Mac card yo can install if you need to boot screen for thinks like booting to recovery
