Nov 19, 2015 3:36 PM in response to birdjesby LarryHN,1 - your Mac did not merge anything - in fact no Apple photo software is even capable of merging libraries even if you try to - so to merge libraries first off you need software that can merge and then you have to specifically ask to merge
2 - to access photos from PhotoShop or other applications either use the media browser in the lower left of the open window or export the photo(s) from Photos to a desktop folder and use from there

Nov 19, 2015 3:54 PM in response to LarryHNby birdjes, today, when I attempted to open my "IPhoto" I discovered that the Icon on my tool bar was gone and a new " Photos "icon was in its place. I did not initiate any changes for this to happen. When I selected my "IPhoto" icon from the Launcher( on my tool bar) it opened with a box in forming me that my Photos had been merged and i was given options to open the merged Photos folder or Open my I Photo folder. When I Opened my I Photo I discovered my computer is no longer saving Images there when I Import from a device or Disk. When I open my Photo shop and attempt to open my photos via that application there are no images to choose from only icons that appear to be files but are unopenable image icons. My online search to understand this problem brought me to several Apple support options to learn how to merge photo Libraries but no instruction to revert this change. I can attest to the fact that Apple can merge its Libraries.

Nov 19, 2015 5:09 PM in response to birdjesby LarryHN,Your libraries were not merged - they were migrated from iPhoto to Photos - there is no possible way to merge libraries without purchasing third party software
and they are two separate programs - changes made in one do are not made in the other one
iPhoto still works for now (if you are up to date with version 9.6.1) and you can use either Photos or iPhoto
and again
to access photos from PhotoShop or other applications either use the media browser in the lower left of the open window or export the photo(s) from Photos to a desktop folder and use from there
