Has anyone else gotten an adware/spyware virus alert?

I've never had something like this come up on any of my phones before. It's quite a long pop up and states that my phone may have an adware or spyware virus and to call iOS Tech Support at 1-877-241-7548 immediately. I tried to look up the phone number online with no success and the url at the top of the pop up goes to an inactive website. I don't want to call an unverified number, but clearly there's some sort of virus on my phone causing this pop up. Anyone know how I can get rid of it??

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.1

No, there is no virus.

Double tap the Home button, then swipe upwards in the Safari preview.

Go to Settings - Safari - Clear History.

Restart Safari.

I'll give it a try but, I wasn't in Safari at any point when this came up.... I was in the Words with Friends app.

Doesn't matter. These things are all over the place, and they're all scams. There is no software in the world that can detect what is on a remote device through a web browser.

If I recall correctly, Words With Friends has a built in browser. Many game do.
