iPod touch 5 won't fully turn on after resetting the Network Settings

A message kept coming up on my ipod saying that there was something wrong with the internet connection everytime I tried to update it to ios 9. I read online that yyou may be able to solve this problem by resetting the Network Settings so I did and it powered off. The ipod never restarted so ever since then it would start up as far as the apple logo showing for a while but then just turning black again. My home button is stuck so I cannot try to force reset by pressing both the lock and home buttons and my charger is not the problem. What else can I try?

iPod touch, iOS 8.4.1, Ipod toush 5
