Cheers,

Nov 19, 2015 10:35 PM in response to gail from maineby John Link,I have not tried putting the phone in recovery mode manually. Since it already does go into recovery mode, and I am able to start restoring, why do you think putting it into recovery mode manually would yield different results?

Nov 19, 2015 10:38 PM in response to John Linkby gail from maine,None of the screens posted are showing the Recovery Mode screen. If you open the link I provided, you will see that the process is different than what you have been doing. Manually putting the device into Recovery Mode is one of the three steps that Apple recommends when trying to restore a device: Restart, Reset, Restore.
Best of luck,

Nov 19, 2015 10:45 PM in response to John Linkby gail from maine,Then at this point, I think your only alternative is to take it into the Apple Store and have it looked at.
Best of luck,

Nov 20, 2015 5:28 PM in response to John Linkby John Link,Well look at this! The trouble I reported above started after I was out in the rain last night using the Maps app on my phone to find my way around lower Manhattan. Perhaps the rain was too much for the phone and if I had waited longer it might have dried out without me needing to install iOS 7, but it's too late now.
