Hi, I have a G5 and tried hooking my Dell 2407WFP monitor to it & the font is extremely fuzzy. This is especially true in programs like Quark. I have it at the highest resolution w/ font smoothing set for flat screen (although I tried every setting) and it is still blurry. Are there any fixes for this??
So you're running it at 1920 x 1200 and it's still fuzzy, right? The first thing I'd check is to see what revision of the monitor you have. It should be listed on the back of the monitor, or you can likely find it in one of the on-screen menus. If it's an early revision (such as an A00 or A01) then the fuzzy text and banding in color gradients is a known issue. It's the primary reason I purchased a 2405FPW even though the 2407 was right around the corner. Reportedly, the A02 and A03 revisions of the 2407 are much better (if not completely fixed) with regard to the fuzzy text and banding. You may need to contact Dell to get your monitor updated or replaced if you have one of the early models.
Anyone have any other ideas? I now have this G5 running the monitor on the DVI cable and it is OK but fonts in programs like Quark only work if you have your page at 200%. At 100% the fonts still run together and can get fuzzy
