Cannot add credit card???

Hello I recently bought an apple tv3 (wish i did not), and there is no movies to rent no series anything!

I try to change country to Australia and use my brothers apple id to rent movies he just told me use your own card as i tryed but it is not allowing me to use my card because it is a Croatian card!

it returns me to the Croatian store and there is nothing to buy or rent i cannot use other country? What is apple protecting me against renting movies? This is by far the stupidest move by apple not allowing to switch stores! I know English and Italain i want to rent in that store!

Now i feel scammed like the poor mac users when apple says its all new but with hardware from 2012 Feel the power of outdated hardware on your desk!

so ****** off of this apple tv that its a youtube player in general!

As you say looking at What can I buy from the iTunes Store in my country? it seems that there is no content available via the Croatian store. Still there is at least a store so that may be a temporary issue. You cannot register a payment method for a country that you are not a resident of. Your billing address for your payment method must match too. This is designed to prevent cross border sales and protect the interests of the rights holders in each region. Without such agreements the content would not be available in any of the national iTunes Stores. Is it too late to return the device for a refund?

It is too late because i bought it on my trip to dublin... But what protection are we talking about here? This is not piratebay im paying the price how is that damaging them?

IT makes no sense to me all.. I will have to use his card now all the time and than again apple fails now at their security against renting movies?

This situation did not help them at all it just frustrated me as a customer and i now know i will not recmmend it to any1 ill tell my friend to get a roku or some other tv thing because apple fails on so many levels.

thanks but there is no way to fix this as it seems ill have to rent using his data and card.

Even though Apple clearly have content on their servers ready to go international copyright law prevents them from selling or renting to you in Croatia. Typically media rights are sold to each region and whoever has the right to distribute a particular studio or artists work in Croatia won't want to lose their cut of the sale if it went directly to the US. Conversely it might be that the market price for the same item might be much less where you are, so other countries wouldn't want what they see as unfair competition. However in this case you lose out because no suitable agreement is in place at all. 😟
