I opened Apple pay by accident and it made a ding noise

I opened apple pay on my iPhone six by accident and it must have read my finger print or something because it made a "ding" noise. However I wasn't holding it over a reader or bar code of any sort, literally just thin air although my iPhone was very close to my macbook. Does this mean I've paid for something I didn't mean to or am I just overreacting?

Hi Anna

Unless you were holding your iPhone very close to a contactless reader that was waiting to receive payment information, you will not have paid for anything accidentally.

To confirm and set your mind at rest, you can check the most recent transactions. Open the Wallet app > select a payment card > tap on the "i" / info icon towards the lower-right corner. This will show your most recent Apple Pay transactions for that card.
