I am working on a timeline with hundreds of keyframe effects. Making each move, then having to go in and change each keyframe is a great way for Apple to torture editors. Is there a way to set the default to "linear" instead of "smooth"?

Keyframe effects? Position animation? Do they repeat? You can use copy and paste attributes. If they don't repeat, they have to be done manually.
Keyframe effects. I am working on a training video where I take people on a tour of a program's interface to show them how to work it. This involves lots of movement and layers of arrows and circles, as I highlight one portion of the screen or another. I have found that I spend more time chasing down errant "smooth" keyframes and changing them, than I actually do making the effects.
Seems like such a bone-headed assumption for Apple to make that everyone will automatically always want smooth keyframes.
I found your question searching for the same solution. I am moving a number of objects on the screen and the smooth (default) creates a lot of unpredictable movements. My preference would be to have it linear and trying to change each one manually is very frustrating. There should be an option to set the default to linear.
