iPod Touch Error

Hi I have got an iPod Touch 2nd generation and I've been trying to sync some songs to my iPod, but I get all the way to the end of syncing with "finishing sync" then the ERROR message "The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13014). "I've been speaking to apple and they don't support the iPod anymore because it is too old, but they said to try and reinstall iTunes to resolve the issues by uninstalling the following processes in this order then reinstalling iTunes.

2 Apple Software Update

3 Apple Mobile Device Support

4 Bonjour

5 Apple Application Support 31-bit

6 Apple Application Support 64-bit

I've followed this, but still have the exact same problem. Can anyone help me please? I'm running software version 4.2.1 on my iPod and 12.3.1 on my iTunes using windows 7 with 550.5 MB free on my iPod.
