I have a mac-book pro early 2011. I had yosemite and upgraded to el-capitan without backing up.I know i am idiot.I had i-photo now no pictures but the text is there i must have deleted them. Is there a way to retrieve all photos in computer?

What version of iPhoto do you have? Does Photos show you pictures? What exactly are you seeing (what does no pictures but there is text mean?)?

the i-photo version is 9.6.1 {910.42]. As of now no photos or text in i-photo. Empty. In photos there are photos which i installed from camera but no photos that i had in I-photo In photos in side bar there is text .albums that i had in i-photo. But no pictures? Nothing that i had in i-photo was transferred to photos. there is no way to retrieve pictures? No program? No way?
Do you have an iPhoto library in your pictures folder? If you do you can migrate it to Photos by dragging it to the Photos icon in the Dock
