"Smart" cover for iPad mini 4 doesn't work

Just bought a mini 4 and the Apple bottom cover (forgot what it's called) along with the "Smart Cover".

The smart cover does NOT work -- it doesn't put the iPad to sleep when closed.

Is there a setting somewhere to control this and I just haven't found it?

Or maybe it has something to do with using both the top and bottom (Apple) covers together? The bottom cover has quite a rim around there sides and the cover seats on the rim (rather than on the iPad screen).

In any case, it ain't working!

Check in Settings>General, under the area where Auto-Lock is. There should be a setting titled Lock/Unlock. That needs to be turned on for the Smart Cover to put the device to sleep.
