I have a Macbook Pro which now no longer works but i have alot on my hard drive i need i have had the hard drive removed . I have forgotten my passord as it broke a while ago is there any way i can access it. The drive is in full working order.

Was you drive encrypted or did you just forget your user id password?

If your drive was encrypted then you will not be able to access it. If was just your set id Password then you should be able to access it.

If the MBP no longer works, you will have removed it from the MBP and use an appropriate external adapter/ to access it .

What kind of computer are you trying to access it from?

Is your disk encrypted?

Are you trying to use it as a start up disk, or just trying to access it though Finder?

So what happens when you access the disk in the finder application? Can you see it?

I think your disk is encrypted.

Instead of destroying it, why don't you just use Disk Utility to wipe it and reformat it, and then it save for backup?
