Q: Find My Friends App

My wife uses my Apple ID so we can keep our calendar, contacts and notes in sync w/each other. Is there a way to separate her phone yet still keep our stuff in sync?

Check out family sharing.  This addresses calendars and purchases, although does not directly address contacts or notes:

Yes, you can choose to login as a specific Apple ID for each of the many services on your iOS devices:

    "Settings" > "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"

    "Settings" > "iMessage"

    "Settings" > "FaceTime"

    "Settings" > "iCloud"

"Settings" > "iTunes & App Store"

So, in your case you will both need to use the same settings for "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and "iCloud" and likely also for "iTunes & App Store" (so you can share apps and music purchases).  But, you need to use a different AppleID than your Wife for "iMessage" and "FaceTime".
