iPod classic not connecting to iTunes after using Sansa USB

I mistakenly plugged my iPod classic into a Sansa USB and the iPod classic will no longer connect to iTunes. It will charge and play what's on the iPod but will not connect to iTunes. Any suggestions?

iPod classic, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
