Help! My MacBook Air screen won't turn on

I hear the startup sound when I turn it on but the I don't see any image.

But, when I shine a flashlight onto the screen I can see some image. Please help.

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

It seems daft, but try the screen brightness setting on your keyboard.

it looks like a rising sun. its also possible your battery is very low, and on power save mode. Check your power connection, and wait about 20 + mins.
