When opening GB I receive the following error message: Error reading/writing file \U201Ccom.apple.garageband.cs\U201D: and when I go to save a file to .MP3 it goes into a loop while converting any thoughts or steps I can take to correct this?

It sounds like your Garageband application isn't functioning correctly. I would recommend you first delete the application:

Follow these steps while you are logged in with an administrator account:
- Enter Launchpad.
- Click and hold on an icon until you see all icons jiggle.
- Click the "x" button in the upper-left of the Mac App Store app icon you want to delete.
Note: If you do not see an "x" button, either the app is not from the Mac App Store or you are logged in as a standard user.
- Click "Delete" in the confirmation dialog to delete the app.
Then restart the computer and reinstall it from the Mac App Store. That should get the application working correctly again:
