Q: When opening GB I receive the following error message: Error reading/writing file \U201Ccom.apple.garageband.cs\U201D:

When opening GB I receive the following error message: Error reading/writing file \U201Ccom.apple.garageband.cs\U201D: and when I go to save a file to .MP3 it goes into a loop while converting any thoughts or steps I can take to correct this?

    Howdy Wyrick,

     

    It sounds like your Garageband application isn't functioning correctly. I would recommend you first delete the application:

    Follow these steps while you are logged in with an administrator account:

    1. Enter Launchpad. 
    2. Click and hold on an icon until you see all icons jiggle.
    3. Click the "x" button in the upper-left of the Mac App Store app icon you want to delete. 
         
      • Note: If you do not see an "x" button, either the app is not from the Mac App Store or you are logged in as a standard user. 
    4. Click "Delete" in the confirmation dialog to delete the app.

     

    Then restart the computer and reinstall it from the Mac App Store. That should get the application working correctly again:
