Q: Movies Stop Playing

Since upgrading recently to the latest iTunes on Mavericks, purchased movies when played (not downloaded to the MAC) now will after some period of time will just stop playing. If I monitor the MAC network connection, the packets drop off. Yet my Internet connection is just fine. Wired or Wireless, same results. Have the same issue on an iMac, Mac Pro and Mac Air all running the latest iTunes all running Mavericks. Have tried w/o the firewall turned on, tether to my iPhone I/N connection all with the same results; even swapped out the router. If I download the movie to the Mac it plays fine.

    Hello RCACEFlyer,

After reviewing your post, It sounds like you purchased a movie and it will play, but it eventually stops. I would recommend you read this article, it may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.

    Hi Mario49,

Thanks for the reply and I have reviewed the reference.

However I have 3-Apple TVs; 2 are on a WiFi connection and the 3rd is a hardwire network connection and they all work just fine; even when all working at the same time watching different purchased movie. Not even a hiccup while watching and again these are all streamed, not downloaded. The same with the iPads and iPhones. It is only the MACs that suffer this fate and its seems that this only has occurred since upgrading to the newest version of iTunes. Remember I have had all of the MACs connected WiFI and a hardwired network connection and they still suffer this fate.

    "The latest update 12.3.1

This update improves the experience for iTunes Match subscribers and Apple Music members:

    • Fixes an uploading issue that may have kept songs pending.

It also includes improvements to overall stability and performance.

This update to iTunes adds support for iOS 9 and is designed for OS X El Capitan."

I am going to try running EL Capitain on one of the MACs and see what happens. If it is fine on EL Capitain and not on Mavervicks then it will be a support call to Apple. As I watch my purchased movies all the time and now I can't.

    Thanks again for the response.
