Why does itunes say not enough space on PC to back up?

Hey guys,

So I just upgraded to windows 10 and installed itunes and hooked up my iphone and am trying to sync/back it up but it keeps telling me that it can't and suggests that I delete things from recycle bin to free up space. However, I have 253gb free so I don't see what the problem is? I've tried restarting, deleting/reinstalling itunes etc .. So, I have a whole bunch of stuff on my phone I want to back up and transfer across like pics/videos and it won't let me.

Windows also doesn't seem to recognise my iphone, it doesn't appear under 'drives and devices' where USBs and such are when they are plugged in. Itunes recognises it but that's about it.

Hello thepokey,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your post, I understand that you are unable to create a backup in iTunes on your computer running Windows 10. We know that these types of situations can be frustrating, but there are some steps that I would suggest working though.

Please read over and work through the suggested steps in the following article for help troubleshooting this issue.
