Q: itunes on windows 7 will not allow for airplay but my appletv is fine

Pretty painful experience with itunes so far.  I have Windows 7.  A Pioneer Elite SC72 receiver (airplay enabled).  Have installed itunes and do not get the airplay option on my computer.  I have disabled ip6 as other threads have recommended.  Nothing.  I recently purchased an AppleTV to see if that would be recognized by itunes.  No luck there.

AppleTV works just fine.  It recognized content on the same desktop just fine.  Am playing albums just fine.  AppleTV also recognized the Pioneer Elite SC72.  Everything is hard wired and connected fine.  Funny thing - when I try and shutdown itunes I get a message that an AppleTV is playing content.  So itunes obviously is sensing some connection.

Oh yeah - Sonos works without an issue and both my mobile devices and my computer.  So far Sonos winning this shootout.

    Hello wes182,

After reviewing your post, It sounds like iTunes does not have the AirPlay icon. I would recommend you read this article, it may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.

Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from iTunes on your computer - Apple Support

If you don't see the AirPlay icon in iTunes

When an AirPlay enabled device is available, you'll see an AirPlay icon to the right of the volume slider in iTunes. If you don't see the icon, follow these steps:

    1. Check that you have the latest version of iTunes and Apple TV software.
    2. Connect your computer and your other device to the same Wi-Fi network. If you're using Ethernet, connect both devices to the same router or hub. If you're using both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, connect your AirPlay device to the same router that your computer uses for Wi-Fi.
    3. Restart your computer, AirPlay device, and network router.
    4. Since some Airplay devices include an on/off option for AirPlay, look for the option in Settings and make sure the feature is on. Check the device's user guide for more information.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day.

I have done all of this.  All software updates are correct.  I uninstalled everything.  I reinstalled everything.  My appletv recognizes my computer just fine and I'm able to play from appletv to my receiver.  My appletv recognizes my receiver as an airplay device.

I also installed XBMC and itunes recocognized that when I moved the slider.

I am convinced this is a bonjour issue.  I have disabled the firewall and issue is not resolved.
