Q: airdrop not seeing each other (iPhone and Mac) despite updated OS on each and both on same Wifi....why?

both devices are on same wifi and have updated operating systems. Both can use airdrop but neither "sees" each other. Can anyone help?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.1

You have not told us whether your hardware meets the "AirDrop System Requirements" listed at the bottom of the article you attached above.

both iPhone 5S and Macbook Pro meet the system requirements. However, I've received a message on the phone stating that the Mac is not supported. I have given up and am using a Windows PC to accomplish what I set out to do...email a photo from my phone. This used to be an option before I "upgraded" to the new iOS.....my mistake. I think Apple is becoming more like Microsoft ...I miss the guiding hand of Steve Jobs

So your MacBook Pro is from 2012 or newer?
