new mac pro air - can't seem to open the apps nor log off...seems frozen.

Can't open apps on my new Mac Book Air - seems frozen? Not able to log off/shut down either. Fear I may have inadvertently 'locked' the system...?

Cant open settings :-(

Press and hold the Power button down for 5 seconds or more to to shutdown the computer.
