Q: "iPhone can't sync with iTunes due to unknown error (-54)"
I get this message all the time, also get it with my iPad Mini 2, but the "sync" seems to complete itself. I don't understand why. Any ideas? Thanks

Click OK to continue the sync. If your content doesn't sync, consolidate your iTunes Library files and check for issues with third-party security software.
When syncing your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes, you might see an alert message that says:
"The iPhone [device name] cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54)."
In most cases, if you click OK at the bottom of the message, your data will still sync correctly to your device.
If your content doesn't sync
If your content doesn't sync after you click OK, try the following:
- Consolidate the files in your iTunes library.
- Check for any issues with third-party security software.
The error can't be fixed by reinstalling iTunes or restoring your device to its factory settings. Make sure to keep your iTunes and iOS devices up to date by running the latest software that your hardware supports. Get the latest version of iTunes on your Mac or PC and update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the latest iOS software.
