Q: Does the gen4 appletv remote work with a new iMac

dear all,

can one use this gen4 appletv remove as a remote. i like the remote on my imac (late 2009) a lot, and find it a pity that the remote is not more working .

Try replacing the battery in your old remote. They take a common CR2032 battery.

I meant that the remote does not work anymore with the newer macs, due to the lacking ir port.

Ahaa..

Nope' the Apple TV (i.e. Siri) remotes will not work either, because they also use IR technology.

The new Macs no longer have an IR receiver. You can get an app that allows your iPhone to work as a remote for your iMac using your wireless network.
