Which of the two options do you want to try?

With the AuPitch filter you do the following:

  • Launch GarageBand and create a new, empty project.
  • Select to create an Audio Track.
  • Click the Media button, select iTunes, and drag the audio file into the the empty space in the track area.

User uploaded file

Now select the track with the song, click the "Smart Control" button in the Toolbar.

User uploaded file

Click the ℹ button to show the Info panel for the track, then click the disclosure triangle in the plug-ins section.

Click an empty field in the plug-ins list to add another one. Select "Audio Units > Apple > AuNewPitch or AuPitch.

Now adjust the pitch. The panel will show the pitch shift in cents. 100 cents will shift by a semitone step.

If the Audio Units don't show, enable them in the GarageBand Preferences > Audio/Midi > Effects.

You may need to drag the dividing line between the track area and the smart controls upward to enlarge the panel.

There are two ways to transpose a track with an audio file:

  • Add the region with the audio file as a loop to the loop browser, then you can treat it as a regular loop, after adding it to a track from the loop browser,
  • or add an AuPitch filter to the audio track with the audio file region

To add an AuPitch Filter .open the Smatrt Controls for the track, then add an Audio Unit plug-in: Plug-ins > AudioUnits> Apple > AuPitch.
