Macbook Pro Retina 13" early 2015 display (and other) issues
Macbook Pro Retina 13" Early 2015 model which I got three weeks ago has MANY issues which I was not expactecting from a Mac product.
Specs:
OSX Yosemite 10.10.5,
MBP Retina 13-inch, early 2015,
Processor 2,7GHz Intel Core i5,
Memory 8GB 1867 MHz DDR3,
Graphics Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
First thing I noticed is that the colour calibration is not correct out of package. Everything is oversaturated and dim. If you brighten the display by pressing F2 it just gets brighter but everything is still oversaturated. This is mentioned in Gizmodo review but there is no other resources referring to this problem.
Changing display calibration manually won't solve this problem but causes more issues that depnding on the applications used the colours and saturation are not the same even when viewing the same image, video, pdf and anything across different applications!!! The colours and saturations and even sharpness are not uniform and this is a fatal issue as I intend to use this computer for graphic works. Even if you are not doing graphic job it is just pain in the arse. The differences are not subtle but huge. This issue renders the computer useless.
Also there is something wrong with the processor or graphics card that it gets super hot shortly after I start using Google Street View on any browser like Firefox and Safari (both are latest version).
Here is a list of easily itdentifiable problem with popular sites such as Issuu, Facebook, Guardian, Google Street View, Youtube etc so that you can also check yours:
- Safari 9.0.1 preview of Issuu website too dark and saturated but plays fine in small scale or even enlarged full screen.
- Firefox 42.0 preview of Issue website ok and also ok when page is small but it becomes too dark and saturated in full screen.
- Firefox 42.0 Youtube video looks ok when small screen but too dark and saturated when fullscreen.
- Safari much darker and saturated: top blue band and image thumbs of Guardian.co.uk, Firefox no much better with photos.
- Safari much darker and saturated: top blue band and image thumbs of Facebook.com, also photo previews are blurry, Firefox OK.
- It gets too hot too easily while using Google Street View (Firefox, Chrome, a little less with Safari).
- It gets too hot too easily with Youtube video (all browser).
- It stutters fullscreen Youtube low-res or HD video and also out of sync fullscreen.
- Firefox Google Image Search results (when th eimage is selected but not visiting the site) too dark and saturated.
- the colour and saturation issue is not only with web browsers but also other applications show different results, usually in full screen mode.
Generally speaking I identify this computer as a lemon and if it is how it should be I am very disappointed.
If someone here had the same issue but somehow rectified the issues please share your solution!
