Q: My phone was stolen. I have a new phone and i'd like to restore the backup from my old phone on it, but iTunes won't let me restore anything until Find My iPhone is turned off from my old phone, which I can't do. Is there any way to do this?

About 2 weeks ago my phone was stolen. I had Find My iPhone turned on for it, which allowed me to track it for a while, but the thief has since turned off my phone and hasn't turned it on again since.

Now I have a new phone, and I'd like to restore my apps, contacts, photos, etc, from the backup I had of my old phone onto my new one. But iTunes tells me "Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone." I'm not aware of any way to do this, even remotely, because the phone has been turned off and untrackable for ages now. That device is pending erasure, and now I've removed it from my list of devices, so now I can't access or track it at all.....

Is it possible to even do this, to "restore" a backup to a new phone?
