Connecting Volume with remote

Hello the Apple Support,

I have a question about connecting my remote to my monitors volume. I looked at the steps on the Internet, and I did try it out. Sadly, it did not work. I don't have a remote for my monitor I just use a button on the back of it to change the volume. Is this the reason why I can't connect if so could help me out that would be great thanks 😉.
